The Heart Behind the Herd
Growing up with horses, Alisha Wilson didn’t just learn how to ride; she learned how to survive. She credits these incredible animals not only with shaping her character but with quite literally saving her life. Through a personal journey involving self-image, confidence, and recovery from addiction, horses remained her only safe space. Their non-judgmental, empathetic nature offered comfort and understanding when the world felt loudest. From her family’s home farm to the ranches of Florida, Alisha can name every horse that has ever crossed her path—and more importantly, the invaluable life lesson each one taught her.
From Corporate Leadership to Purposeful Passion
In 2020, after years in corporate leadership, Alisha pivoted from the boardroom to the barn. She turned her lifelong passion into a mission, beginning her Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) journey with Dreamwinds/Cartier Farms. In 2021, Transitions Acres was born—a sanctuary where the horse-human connection fosters self-discovery and those transformative “ah-ha” moments that unlock human potential. Driven by a belief that the healing power of horses should be accessible to everyone, Alisha established Transitions as a non-profit organization. This allows her to bridge the gap through community partnerships and grants, ensuring that wellness-based equine programming is available to all, regardless of financial means.
Award-Winning Leadership & Innovation
Alisha’s innovative approach has garnered significant recognition across Ontario:
Canadian Choice Award Winner (2024 – 2026)
Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2025) – Community Futures and Woodstock Chamber of Commerce
Tourism Oxford Best New Product Award – Recognizing meaningful impact on wellness-based tourism.
Ontario Southwest Signature Experience – Awarded to her signature “Cowgirl Kickback Experience.”
A Holistic & Professional Approach
Alisha combines lived experience with an extensive toolkit of professional certifications to support her clients. She is a Registered Riding Coach with Equestrian Canada, blending traditional horsemanship with holistic wellness. She also holds certifications in ASIST and SafeTalk (suicide intervention), is a Reiki Master Teacher (Canadian Reiki Association), and serves as an Equine Wellbeing Coach & Trainer.
A Family Mission
Happily married and a proud mother of two, Alisha’s family is the heartbeat of the farm. Transitions Acres is a true family passion project, where every family member plays a role in the daily care of the herd.
“With this program, my love for horses is beautifully intertwined with my passion for helping others. My once-broken rescue horses have found a renewed purpose—which means, here, everybody wins.”

I attended the Ponies and Pottery event tonight and all I can say is WOW! What a fantastic experience. Alisha and Holly Jo were extremely welcoming and created a supportive environment for someone who had little to no experience with horses or pottery! I had a wonderful time creating three pieces of pottery and getting to know the horses. Thank you so much for an amazing experience! I can’t wait to see how my pieces of pottery turn out after they are glazed!
Alisha Wilson is passionate about her horses and helping people, and it shows. Her facilities are just perfect for all the services she offers. I attended a recent event and was really impressed.
There is so much more going on here than meets the eye. My daughter (age 9) just completed the Youth Leadership Workshop and each day on the car ride home she was beaming about the life lessons she had learned that day. Communication, displaying patience, having a positive attitude, friendship, teamwork all while having fun was how she described her day – each one a little different. As a parent – who could ask for more. If i could rate this higher than 5 stars I would. Great job!!!
What a great experience! Fun challenges & great atmosphere. Working with the horses was interesting. The facilitator, Alisha, was fun & kind. This is a unique experience you won’t get anywhere else. I look forward to doing it again!
Alisha’s program and events are incredibly eye opening and you really learn a lot about yourself and what you’re capable of achieving! I love working with the horses and the exercises involved. It’s interactive, fun, exploratory and makes you feel great afterward! The facilities are beautiful and Alisha is a great Teacher !
My son loves it here!! Loves the interaction with all the animals and reconnecting with the land and outdoors! Alicia is amazing and very supportive to all the kiddos
Great staff, caring herd. Truly a place to grow and discover
I really enjoyed learning and making my mini indigenous drum with Becca Neepin at Transitions. She had everything ready for us and walked us through step by step. I enjoyed the smudging ceremony at the Indigenous garden at the start. Would HIGHLY recommend! Can’t wait to learn and try more workshops with Becca.
It is such a welcoming place to be. Working with the horses help to relax you. I tried the EAL. I enjoyed working from the ground level with the horses. Next I am going to try the Reiki and sound healing. Alisha and her daughter Lindsey are very pleasant to work with. They make you feel welcome and at ease. And I love how they open their farm up to host personal learning events. Great job guys!
